Tribute to THE BANSAL SIR - Father of Kota Coaching Industry

Bansal Sir - FATHER OF KOTA COACHING INDUSTRY

(Agarwal classes= Bansal classes)

Hello!

My name is Abhishek Kumar, a student from Reliable Institute, Kota (founded last year in 2020) and an IIT JEE aspirant. Let me show you guys the building of my new coaching institute...

This building, which is now Reliable was once the main building of THE BANSAL CLASSES, the name which defines its own importance in the field of IIT-JEE. Once, Bansal classes students' were synonymous to JEE top rank holders and Bansal Sir and his batch was dream of thousands of young minds. I'm definitely not trying today to advertise for Bansal Classes, but to share two things-

1. The grand legacy of Bansal sir and Bansal classes in field of producing IIT results and their effort in making Kota, the Kaashi of education. &,

2. My personal experience of meeting him and having a small conversation with a man who gave Kota everything, it has today.. THE COACHING INDUSTRY.

Vinod Kumar Bansal popularly know as Bansal sir was born in Jhansi India on October 26, 1946. He graduated in mechanical engineering at the IIT,BHU. After graduation, he got married and moved to Kota, Rajasthan as an engineer at JK Synthetics, a chemicals company. In 1974, Bansal sir was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy, which left him physically impaired, and was predicted to shorten his lifespan. In 1983, JK Synthetics closed down. In 1983, he met G. D. Agrawal of Mumbai, who inspired him to start coaching students for IIT JEE, the entrance test for the Indian Institutes of Technology. Subsequently, he started teaching students, initially with 8 students at his dining-room table. With his half moon walk like steps, every morning he struggled to get to his students and teach them. With his extreme efforts and hard work, Bansal sir produced best results in IITs with over 5 times AIR 1 from the Bansal Classes, the only institute in India which could meet up this great excellence.

While he was teenager, Bansal sir was a good student and he was the reason of electricity and a fan that his house and his room got respectively while he was in +2. Once, while asking from his father about why their house didn't get the electricity, his father replied saying that if he could manage to get good marks and become topper of his school, then certainly their house would be lighted with electricity. He did work hard and topped the school with a scholarship of Rs.375, which during 60s, was a handsome amount. This amount not only met his house electricity demands but also bought him a new fan in his room and certain other things. Later he got BHU and even secured good results there and so got a job in Kota. But, the life wanted something else from a guy of Jhansi, the city of warriors. With the stroke of paralysed body he taught millions of students with great discipline and trained even his colleagues to do so. Introduction of DPPs, motivating students and teachers both, extreme discipline and punctuality were some key factors in the success of Bansal sir and the Bansal Classes. with more than over 40 years, the study material which we have today is largely flooded with the questions of Bansal sir and the bansal classes. IITs were full of Kota students since 1990, which was certainly the hard work of Bansal sir and his team, who managed to make Kota, an education hub on the map of India. Kota has since then emerged as the coaching center in India with nearly 150,000 students from across India enrol in the 40 coaching institutes in Kota. In 2017, 39,000 of their students cleared the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) and at least 48 of them were in top 100.[2]. He died on 3rd May, 2021 of a heart attack. You may search about him on YT and get thousands of inspiring incidents in his extraordinary life. The man whom doctors thought won't survive for more than 15 years in 1980s, lived for over 71 years of dedicated life towards serving this nation. Every teacher and every coaching which exist today in Kota has some connection with this great person, Bansal sir and his great institue, the Bansal classes. Most of the founders of major coaching institutes .be it Resonance, Allen, Reliable, Motion, Career Point, NUCLEUS and many others were either taught in Bansal classes or were teaching as a normal teacher in Bansal classes. The legacy will continue to cherish the great work of our respected Bansal sir, who today left as at 3am , May 3 2021.

When, I left Resonance and went for my new institute Reliable, i got a great oppurtunity to enter a building which produced thousands of IITians and AIR 1 and the holy place because of which Kota got its name, THE BANSAL CLASSES building loacted in Vigyan Nagar. It was a great experience and i found myself blessed to be in that august place. The entire session would have gone there unless covid didn't breakdown! Anyways.. I spent around 2 months in that grand building and Bansal Sir had his home inside the campus of The Bansal Classes only, which is now the Reliable Institute. it was the time of evening, and I with my mom went to the reception desk to complete formality of the new institute and we saw, Bansal Sir roaming on his wheel chair, looking at the students in his campus after a long time, and his eyes reflected a sense of satisfaction and happiness witnessing the soul of his shut institute, glorifying again. As sooner, the formalities of the admission ended, me and my mom bowed to him and took his blessings, and he just told me, " Khush raho beta! Acche se padho aur desh ko aage badhaao and don't waste even a single second" That's it. saying this, he gave us a smile and moved. But his touch and his words were really great to hear and experience. A man who transformed the destiny of an entire city, from an industrial place to coaching hub was simple, but great.

his story and his life and his struggle motivated and will continue to motivate us and the forthcoming generations of both teachers and students. Thanks sir, for teaching us the significance of discipline and contributing so much in the field of education. You were, you are and you will be respected as a true mentor and a great soul who never broke down before the challenges of life, and proved iron muscles and thoughts of steel can break any barrier in our life.
